Why Us?

St. Anthony’s Hospice is committed to providing excellent care to each and every patient we care for. Since our founding in 1982, we have strongly kept to our mission statement, “St. Anthony’s Hospice, in partnership with the community, seeks to maximize the quality and dignity of life for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses Through a holistic approach, our professional team is honored to guide and empower patients, families, and caregivers during life’s most sacred journey”. We believe nobody should die alone or in pain.

St. Anthony’s Hospice has received the Hospice Honors award every year since October 2007-September 2008. “The award criteria is based on Hospice CAHPS survey results from October-September. The Hospice Honors is a landmark compilation of hospices providing the best patient and caregiver experience. This prestigious annual review recognizes hospices that continuously provide the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view. Hospice Honors acknowledges high performing agencies by analyzing performance of Hospice CAHPS quality measures“

Most recently, we were named one of the 2020 Hospice Honors Awards recipients.

We couldn’t receive these awards without incredible staff that enjoys coming to work every day. Today, we have 81 employees who make up our Hospice Homeside Care Team, Palliative Care Team, Lucy Smith King Care Center staff, and business office staff.

“I came to work at St. Anthony’s Hospice in the summer of 2019. I had just moved back from South Carolina and they had taken such incredible care of my Mamaw when she was in her final weeks. I knew I wanted to be a part of an organization with a bigger purpose and help spread the word of the great things St. Anthony’s does for its patients and their families. I truly feel I was led to this position and I love coming to work each and every day!”

– Riley Hamilton, Business Development Coordinator

“I firmly believe I was led to St. Anthony’s Hospice. I wanted to move back home from Mississippi and a position opened up that would potentially be a good fit. I couldn’t believe it when I got the job! Staying with St. Anthony’s Hospice….that’s my choice every single day. This place heals in so many ways. Whether you work here, you volunteer here, or you have experienced the amazing care that is given to each and every one of our patients and families (I have experienced that too), St. Anthony’s Hospice is the best job I have ever had. I love this place like my home and the people that work here like family. I go to work every day and although I am not directly involved with patients, I know that what I am doing ultimately contributes to easing pain, providing comfort, and makes lasting memories for loved ones across our 3 counties. That is a true blessing.”

-Jodie Conrad, Director of Operations

“Caring for & loving people when they need it most has always been a part of who I am. My current position with St Anthony’s Hospice presented itself to me in August 2017. Without hesitation, I immediately applied & prayed that this was where I was meant to be. I love to love people. I love to comfort others when there is a need. And this organization exemplifies just that & so much more. People often ask us ‘how do you do it everyday? How do you work around such sadness?’ St Anthony’s Hospice is about so much more than the sadness, sicknesses, death & dying. To me, the answer is simple…I get to work in a place that is filled with so much compassion, selflessness, kindness & love everyday. I leave my job everyday feeling so fulfilled knowing that we have gone above & beyond to treat patients & their families with the same compassion and dignity that we would all want for our own loved ones and families…not because we have to, but because that’s who we are as people & an organization, and what we believe in & stand for. The best part of my job is doing what I love and loving what I do everyday. They say it’s a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together, and I am so blessed & thankful that it has for me.”

– Amy Hanley, Administrative Assistant/Unit Secretary at Lucy Smith King Care Center

“It’s my passion to care for others. I hope to spread love and joy to those around me. I love my job!”
